Day 3: The Cost of Forgiveness
Forgiveness is central to the gospel and often comes at a cost. Paul’s offer to pay Onesimus’s debt to Philemon mirrors Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, where He paid our debt in full. This act of forgiveness requires sacrifice but is essential for reconciliation and reflects the heart of Jesus. Forgiveness is not always easy, but it is a powerful demonstration of love and grace. It challenges us to be willing to make sacrifices for the sake of reconciliation and to reflect the heart of Christ in our relationships.
Colossians 3:13 (ESV): “Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”
