The Unlikeliest Hero

He Didn’t Look Like a Champion… But He Won the Greatest Fight in History.

The world expected a warrior, a king with power and might. Instead, Jesus came as a servant, stepping into the greatest battle of all time—against sin, death, and the forces of darkness. He fought not with fists, but with sacrifice. The enemy thought he had won. But then… Sunday came.

Day 1: Christianity as a Daily Commitment

Colossians 2:6–7 (ESV)

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”

Devotional Thought:
Christianity was never meant to be a once-a-week event. It’s not a Sunday costume we put on and take off. It’s a way of life—a **daily walk with Jesus** that shapes how we think, act, respond, and relate to others.

During the Passion Week, Jesus didn’t live for appearances or for the temple crowd. He lived intentionally loving the outcasts, challenging injustice, and staying rooted in the Father’s will. His ministry wasn’t confined to religious spaces. He met people in streets, homes, and uncomfortable places.

In the sermon, we talked about Jesus showing up in places we don’t usually associate with “church”—even a bar. And that’s the point. If we only bring our faith into “safe,” polished places, we miss the mission entirely.

Colossians reminds us that we’re called to walk in Him every day, everywhere. Not just when it’s easy or expected. Not just in church. If Jesus is Lord, then He’s Lord over your Monday, your Wednesday night, your weekend hangout, and your hardest class.

Reflection Questions:

  • Are you walking with Jesus **daily**, or mostly on Sundays?
  • Where in your daily life—your schedule, your conversations, your habits—do you most often leave Jesus out?
  • How might your faith become more “rooted” and “built up” if you invited Jesus into your ordinary?

Challenge for Today:
Pick one specific area of your everyday life—a place, routine, or relationship—and ask:
How can I intentionally live out Christ’s love here today?

Maybe it’s showing grace to your roommate.
Maybe it’s starting a spiritual convo with a coworker.
Maybe it’s praying during your walk to class.

Whatever it is make faith a rhythm, not a ritual
