Hello everyone. My name Is Tonyette Hall and I have the honor to lead both the young adults ministry referred to as "30 Below" and our new Liturgical Dance ministry.
30 Below
30 Below is a unique ministry within the BCM/D Collegiate Ministry “world” because we are not affiliated with/meet at a college and have no immediate plans to do so.
While this difference can present a challenge in some ways, it also offers us the opportunity to attract all kinds of young adults, not just ones who attend a particular school. 30 Below meets every Wednesday at 6:30 PM.
The end time varies because after Bible study, prayer, worship, and snacking (with the occasional full meal), we enjoy time just getting to catch up with each other via our weekly “Updates” segment.
Currently comprised of young adults ages 18 to 28 who come from various backgrounds and beliefs, some attend college, some work, some do both and some do neither. Some 30 Below-ers, as I affectionately call them, are dating or in relationships, while others are not. The group is a beautiful blend of individuals.
We offer a safe place for young adults to come and learn about Jesus, the Bible and Christianity, ask questions, and find others who are interested in a community all while having the comfort to be themselves.
The church can support us via prayer, snack donations (money for them or snacks themselves), and alerting us of opportunities to serve (like at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter) or other events that would benefit young (mostly Christian) adults.
Liturgical Dance Ministry
Dance is mentioned multiple times in the Bible. It is used as a means of praising and worshiping God as well as celebrating God-given victories. There are examples of people dancing alone (King David in 2 Samuel 6) as well as in groups (Miriam leading a group of women in Exodus 15).
The Crossings’ Liturgical Dance Ministry is founded and will be based on Psalm 149:3 and Psalm 150:4 which both encourage us to praise God with dancing.
Members of this ministry will not only dance together, but we will study and grow together spiritually. First and most importantly in the Word of God, but also in various skills (such as various styles of dance, pageantry, sign and mime).
All for the purpose of encouraging others to find different ways to offer praise and worship to God, both together on Sundays and also in their personal time with God at home every day. (Important note: dance is not only for women, or young people, or even those “in shape.” If you are interested, please feel free to see me.)
